San Diego’s climate is great for exploring year round. It enjoys mild, sunny weather throughout the year. The average high temperature in San Diego during the winter is 65 degrees and average high during August is 77 degrees. With barely 10 inches of rain on average, although typically late summer and early fall are the hottest times of the year with temperatures occasionally reaching 90 degrees or higher.
San Diego was recently named #6 in Travel and Leisure Magazine as a favorite winter destination. It has also been ranked as one of the top-ten best climates in the Farmer’s Almanac and is one of the two best summer climates in America according to The Weather Channel. Weather played a large factor in the poll. San Diego makes for a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, surfing, kayaking, playing at the beach, golfing, and parks to name a few. Travel and Leisure Magazine readers also voted San Diego city as one of the safest and cleanest cities in the country.
